EPISODE 52 of Z-GR! Radio
May 30, 2025
Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
- My name is Scot Apathy – I’m the lead singer for Zero-G Racetrack, and I curate the ‘Floating Around the Racetrack’ Spotify/YouTube playlist. It’s not a pay for play list; I personally choose what’s on it based on what I hear and what I like. True story.
- For Z-GR! Radio, I include artists from the playlist, though for time availabilty reasons, I’ve moved most of my attention to the show. I include new artists as well as artists who have appeared on past episodes.
- The artists included come from myriad genres, geographical locations and stage of growth. I stay away from mainstream established artists, but I will play artists that I’ve followed as they grow. I love it when emerging artists gain traction, and I like to celebrate it.
- I include a cover song each week, and highly recommend checking out MetroVeteran’s (Ruel Smith) ‘Synthwave Covers’ Spotify playlist. There are 950+ great tracks on that list and he updates often.
- I post a page like this each week to help you find out more about the artists you heard on this week’s show and to make it easy to do so.
- We occasionally select artists for our NEWHD Featured Artist program. I’ll note those artists as they appear, and there are links to them at newhdradio.com/zgr.
Have fun with the list , enjoy the artists/music and…
PLEASE share the page out on your Socials!
Rogue FX - Endgame
Endgame exists both as a sequel to The Fifth Step EP – the fictional near future sci-fi story of the redemption of ex mercenary Max Rogue against the corrupt Mind Corporation. The album crosses synthpop, synthwave and embraces dance genres such as house and nu disco and features collaborations with Aisle 9, Hollywood Brown, Mayah Camara and DEWAR as well as further guest musical accompaniment by ARPRAXIS and Dilemmachine.

Episode 52 - On Demand
Z-GR! Radio Episode 52 Lineup
They Kiss / Julian Lennon / Sandflower - Lookin' 4 Love (Cash NYC Remix)
The fact that Julian Lennon has been releasing Electronic pop tracks is, by itself, super cool, but I really like Los Angeles Synth-pop duo They Kiss – Anna Mak hails from San Francisco and Cash Civetta is from NYC, and this track is outstanding.

O.a.G / Future Analog - Running - Future Analog Remix
O.a.G. is a transatlantic electronic duo composed of Iwan Bedford (UK) and Wesley Reid (US) – they make really g Synth-Pop/Retrowave/Dancepop music, and are big into joints with other artists – for this track, they’ve chosen Future Analog for remixing duties on their 2022 track ‘Running’.

Son of A Ghost - The Precious Want For Nothing
Utah’s Son of Ghost is a duo consisting of vocalist Kylee Watson and James Bradford; I first had them on the show back on Episode 24 and they’ve just been getting better and better – their latest, ‘Precious Want For Nothing’ is their second release of 2025 and just might my favorite so far – I’m looking forward to what they’ve got coming up.
Nite - Burn
Texas trio Nite debuted on Episode 42 and it’s no surprise that they’re back for round 2 – I was taken immediately not only with their retro modern vibe but their huge sound – it’s big, it’s fat and you can hear everything in the mix. I really, really dig these guys – I was going to grab the excellent recent remix of Oblivion (My Obsession), but then I heard ‘Burn’ and it got the nod – once you hear it, you’ll know why.

Blackbook - Addicted
Blackbook is the Swiss- Dutch synthpop duo of Albert Den Dekker and Matthias Kräutli – they formed in 2018 and are part of Germany’s darkTunes Music Group, one of the most prominent synthwave communities in Europe. They’re known for their outings wearing distinctive fencing masks, but more importantly, they have a fantastic sound.
Kittens Slay Dragons - Sick Machine
Sarah Donner and Michael McLKean create upbeat, danceable music about mental health, nerd culture, and, more often than not, cats. The pair foster kittens together, and Sarah uses animal rescue as a means to combat depression and anxiety. She embraces her neurodivergent identity, incorporating it into her creative endeavors and is known for her candid authenticity, and often sharing aspects of her life that resonate with many in the neurodivergent community.
Just Scott / Shred Krueger - Tonight She Comes
This week’s cover is by 80’s powerhouse Boston group the Cars – ‘Tonight She Comes’ was released in 1985 specifically for their Greatest hits album, and contains what is widely considered one of the best pop-rock guitar solos of the 80’s. Doing the track more than ample justice is Cleveland’s Shred Krueger, who worked with Just Scott on what is, simply put, an outstanding take on the track.

Zero-G Racetrack - I Think You're Beautiful (Radio Edit)
Zero-G Racetrack’s most popular song ‘I Think You’re Beautiful’ was remastered and re-packaged as a 6 track EP in December of 2022 and collectively, the song has passed the 95k mark as of today. The radio Instrumental is the version that got picked up by Spotify’s Autoplay, and has kept the track numbers growing. The art used for the cover was the catalyst for the cover art style we’ve used throughout the first wave of singles, and the song continues to be a fan favorite.

Liquid Modern / Fuzzle - Heart Attack
I came across Liquid Modern in late 2021 – they’ve got a great retro-80’s sound and have a great cover of Sugar Ray’s ‘Fly’ that’s worth checking out .Fuzzle, is an excellent SoCal RetroSynth band that hit my radar via Instagram in early 2022 also carries an 80’s dance pop vibe. I always love it when Z-GR! Radio artists turn up for a collaboration and as expected, the two sound great together on 2022’s ‘Heart Attack’.

Trans Atlantic Crush - Glitter and Gold
Trans Atlantic Crush is, or was, a synthpop band from Boise, Idaho – they describe themselves as ‘retro synth romantics’ and their 2018 album ‘Sea of Change’ is really, really great – unfortunately, they seem to be defunct – I debated putting them on the show, but the truth is, ‘Glitter and Gold’ is a fantastic track that sounds great regardless of the band’s status.
Dana Jean Phoenix / PowerNerd - Fight These Robots
Canada’s Dana Jean Phoenix is a hugely positive force in the synthwave scene – I first came across her 2020 album ‘Megawave’, a joint with Vienna’s Powernerd, back in 2022, and I consider the album a must-listen – ‘Fight These Robots’ is a favorite

Hollywood Brown - Heartbreaker
Birmingham’s Hollywood Brown aims to bring 1980s American Top 40 music back into fashion and and I’d say he’s on track to do just that – ‘Heartbreaker’ is the lead-off from his debut album, Reverberator, which was released earlier this year on FiloFX, the the label created and operated by this week’s featured artist Rogue FX, AKA Andrew Wood.

Rogue FX - EndGame
Rogue FX got a brand new record out called ‘Endgagme’, and I sat down with him to talk about the album, the label, his approach to writing music and what he’s got coming up next – the interview is the third installment of my Z-GR! Radio Take 5 segments – I really do enjoy these virtual face-to-face conversations with Z-GR! Radio artists and I think you will too. ‘Endgame’ is my favorite track off the album, which happens to be the title track.
