Week 14 - May 31, 2024
EPISODE 14 Brings Our First Track Premiere!!!!!!
Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
- My name is Scot Apathy – I’m the lead singer for Zero-G Racetrack, and I curate the ‘Floating Around the Racetrack’ Spotify/YouTube playlist. It’s not a pay for play list; I personally choose what’s on it based on what I hear. True story.
- For Z-GR! Radio, I pull from tracks/artists on the playlist (current and archived) and include newer finds that might not be on the list yet (but likely will be).
- The artists included come from myriad genres, geographical locations and stage of growth. I stay away from mainstream established artists, but I will play artists that I’ve followed as they grow. I love it when emerging artists gain traction, and I like to celebrate it.
- I include a cover song each week, and highly recommend checking out MetroVeteran’s (Ruel Smith) ‘Synthwave Covers’ Spotify playlist. There are 900+ great tracks on that list.
- I post a page like this each week to help you find out more about the artists you heard on this week’s show and to make it easy to do so.
- I’m working with NEWHD on a Featured Artist program, and I’ll note those artists as they appear.
Have fun with the list below, enjoy the artists/music and…
PLEASE share the page out on your Socials!
Aisle 9
Aisle 9’s career has spanned nearly 3 decades working in the UK mainly as a producer. Working with 100’s of artists from all genres, starting with the trance, rave and festival scene of the late 90’s and moving through the alt rock and grunge scene sof the early 00’s.
I’ve been a fan of Aisle 9 since I put ‘Beautiful Airwaves’ on my playlist in 2022, and I’m thrilled that Aisle 9 is the featured guest artist on Episode 14 of Z-GR! Radio, and I’m STOKED that his upcoming June 7 release ‘City of Dreams’ will be our first ever early track Premiere on the show, and BIG THANKS to Aisle 9 for the privilege!

Episode Fourteen - On Demand
Z-GR! Radio Episode Fourteen Lineup
Colin And the Cloud - Lipstick Gun
Swedish duo ‘Colin and the Clouds’ is, to put it simply, really cool. They’ve got a really great synth rock vibe and some really awesome artwork to go with it – when I first put ears on ‘Lipstick Gun’ I knew it would be a show opener, and now’s the time – This is Z-GR! Radio on NEWHD Rock Evolution.
RJ Thompson - Act of God - MSIK Remix
Returning Episode 3 artist RJ Thomspson turned his track ‘Act of God’ over to UK Producer MSIK for a remix, and the result really does speak for itself. This track is ridiculously great from the vocal down, so make sure you look deeper on this one.

ARD Matthews - Justify It
Ard Matthews may be the first South African artist to grace Z-GR! Radio so far, but he represents well – I’m not sure how I didn’t hear him sooner, but I’m all about correcting that oversight – this is ‘Justify It’ off of Ard’s excellent 2018 album ‘Impossible Machines’ and you’d do well for yourself to check the entire record out.
Sunset Neon - Kiss
I found Sunset Neon’s outstanding take on Prince’s ‘Kiss’ on MetroVeteran’s awesome Synthwave Covers playlist. Sunset Neon isn’t exactly ‘emerging’ – the track has nearly 175k streams and is nowhere near their most popular (they’ve clocked 7 mil on another track), but this cover of an already amazing track by an amazing artist sounds WAAAAY too good to pass up.
Zero-G Racetrack - Hard to Believe
Dream Prescription - Never Giving Up On You
Episode 4 opener Dream Prescription is back with 2020’s ‘Never Giving Up on You’. The more I listen to these guys the more I like them – socials indicate that they have been playing out, but I don’t see anything coming up – they’re in New York, so keep an eye open and check them out when you can.

ctrl Voltage / Neon Bone - Seven
Klypi / Buddy Crime - When You're Not Around
That was ‘When You’re Not Around’ a joint with Klypi and Buddy Crime – Klippy is out of Birmingham of all places and self-describes as an alien who is trapped on earth, and it’s a feeling I know well – honestly, wherever they’re from, that is very, very cool.

DaFoo - Wish You'd Care
Switzerland generates an amazing assortment of awesome artists, and DaFOO is another really cool Swiss band who has a ton of great tracks to check out…this is a recent release from March 2024 – it’s called ‘Wish You’d Care’ and it really hits the mark – great vocal hook, unique synth sounds and the drums are fantastic. Don’t sleep on these guys.
Poly Ghost - Dinosaur Beach
White Elephant Orchestra - Tremolo
Andy Stochansky’s ‘White Elephant Orchestra’ seems to have been a one shot project, but it bore some really great tracks and sounds great – it was mixed by Grammy winning engineer Dave Pensano, who is known for his work with Michael Jackson, Pink and Peaches. No wonder it sounds great – would love to hear more from where this came from, Andy, no lie.
Iris - One Kind
I stumbled across Iris in 2021 right after they disbanded, and I found ‘One Kind’s’ melody to be a powerful earworm. It’s a great workout track, and I’ve been hoping that they’ll get back on the horse to make more great songs, but so far no luck – I really do love their album ‘Six’ and regardless of their current status I highly recommend that you take a spin or two through it – it really is outstanding.

Aisle 9 - City of Dreams
It’s no secret that I love guitar-infused synthwave, and I’ve been a fan of Aisle 9’s since I first heard him back in late 2022 – since then, Aisle 9 has been busy with a bunch of fantastic releases and remixes, so it was a no brainer to reach out to see if he’d be down to provide beds for the show. He was, and along the way he mentioned that his latest track is due for release on June 7th. We agreed to make ‘City of Dreams’ Z-GR! Radio’s very first track Premiere, which is awesome. You can find out more about the track at newhdmedia.com/aisle9.
