Z-GR! Radio overview right from your Host:
Have fun with the list below, enjoy the artists/music and…
Bill Lovitt is a Chicago based Indie music songwriter, artist and producer who creates music to make people happy. As soon as I heard his disco-funk instrumentals, I playlisted him immediately and am thrilled that he agreed to guest the show. Bill ardently supports emerging artists and is a mentor at newartistspotlight.org.

Thanks for the awesome music beds, Bill!
I’m never quite sure what to do when I learn that an amazing band that I want to put on the show has thrown in the towel…usually I just go with another artist, but I also believe that the best way to tell someone that you appreciate what they’ve done is to appreciate what they’ve done. This is a really great song from a great band.
Fossils of Ancient Robots’ ‘Somebody to Trick’ – is off of their fantastic 2012 release ‘We Are the Solar Captains’ – The driving synth rhythm caught my ear initially, but the guitar-styled synth solo is what really makes the track as awesome as it is. They dropped a track in 2020 and they’ve been active fairly recently on socials, and I sure hope that we get more from them.
I first heard Young Ejecta in mid 2022 and became an immediate fan – they’ve been quiet for a long stretch, but amazingly, every time I check on them their stream count has increased impressively, so I’m certainly not the only one pining for new material, and once you hear them, I think you’ll understand why – ‘Four Corners’ is off of 2020’s awesome ‘Ride Lonesome’.
Detroit’s Josie Pace is best known for her scorching industrial electronic rock goodness, but I have to say that I’m just as partial to her introspective material and ‘Crispy Lovely’ is one of her best. Josie’s an absolute favorite of mine – she was on Hit Parader’s No Cover in 2022 and was fantastic, and I recommend checking out the linked YouTube video below.
Philadelphia’s Pat Adams, AKA Slumming with the Saints, provides ample evidence that Bass players who can sing are way cooler than guitar players who can’t, and as a bass player who sings, I’m pretty much on board with the notion. I really dig his style, and ‘Swear to God’ has been in the queue for a while now, so it’s great to get the song on the lineup and into your ears for sure.
‘Cool Kids’ is off of the Big Image’s excellent 2019 release Dreamtime – they’ve had a string of excellent releases since then, and have indicated that they’re working on new material, which is awesome. In the meantime, they’re playing out in the U.K., so catch them if you can.
I’ve been a fan of Fuzzle for a while now and they really do keep getting better with each release. This is their third appearance on the show; they’ve been pretty active in 2024, with 4 releases and ‘Let It Go Again’ has easily been my favorite – it’s got a great vibe and the last minute of the track has some of their best work yet.
Sweden’s Strange Tales and their very cool track ‘Love Me Again’. Strange Tales has a long history that’s too extensive to go into detail about here, but I will say that it is awesome to see a band who came together in their youth carry it forward over the decades. Check the links to learn more.
UK Popwave producer Fonz Tramontano looks to the 80’s for influence, using modern production techniques to update classic 80’s style music, but what sets him apart is that he collaborates with an amazing group of female vocalists. I’ve discovered quite a few through his library including Samantha T and of course, Sara B Ladybnow who joints with Fonz on this track, ‘Strong Again’.

I have to admit that I’m late to the Made of Light party – they’re a duo out of Italy who self-describe their music as ‘mediterranean progressive’ a genre created in the 90’s and that can best be described as progressive trance. Regardless of what you call it, I like it a lot.; ‘Souvenir; is short, sweet and enough reason to go check the rest of their stuff out.
This week’s cover is an an awesome take on a truly legendary track – when Eddy Grant’s ‘Electric Avenue’ hit MTV in 1983 it got everyone’s attention for sure – the song refers to the first market street in London to have electricity, and gained notoriety for the Brixton Riots of 1980. The song hit #2 on the Billboard charts, but its popularity has endured for 40(!) years. The cover is by Derrick Boyd AKA Tone of Arc and he more than does it justice.
Lastly, this week’s guest Instrumentalist is William Lovitt. I stumbled across Bill’s music only recently, but was so taken with his groove and sound that I reached out and we had a really great conversation – I was thrilled to learn that he’s a mentor at newartistspotlight.org, which, like Z-GR! Radio, seeks to get new ears on emerging artists – there are a ton of people in the organization just waiting to help elevate artists in any way they can, so stop by either as an artist looking to join a community or as a listener looking to expand your horizons. Huge thank you to Bill for helping with the beds this week – It was tough to choose one of his tracks to play us out on, but ‘Pan Fried Electrified’ spoke to me and I think it will to you as well.
