“Unjust God” has just been served up as the latest single from Your Spirit Dies‘ debut album “My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest“. The South Carolinian metallic hardcore band will have that record out on May 02nd through MNRK Heavy. As for the context behind the lyrics for this song, the vocalist Brandon Byars shared the following:
“‘Unjust God‘ is a song about personal struggle with religion. Along with the title of the record, the idea came from the book of Job about an individual who faces great personal struggle. However, in this instance the person is pushed too greatly and not only loses their faith, but turns their back entirely.”
The below music video for this single was co-directed by Robbie Grantham & Jesse Ray. “My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest” sports a trio of guest appearances, including Zao vocalist Dan Weyandt on the recently released track, “Serpentine“. Other cameos including No Cure‘s Blaythe Steuer on “A Snow In Summer” and The Callous Daoboys‘ Carson Pace on “Night Pierces My Bones“.
