Arsenal head to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon looking to continue their push for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta’s men continue to chase Liverpool and are currently seven points behind.
The Gunners can close the gap at the top of the table for 24 hours with victory at the King Power Stadium. Leicester are currently sat inside the relegation zone after 24 games – two points off Wolves in 17th.
Ahead of the game, there will be a protest made by Leicester fans over the running of the club. Despite once being renowned as one of the best-ran football clubs in England, the Foxes are miles away from the state they were in just four years ago when they won the FA Cup.
Thai-owned King Power International Group have transformed the football club over the past decade, overseeing the club’s historical Premier League title win. But since the FA Cup win in 2021, the club have suffered relegation to the Championship and are facing another drop to the second division.
Frustrations have reached boiling point with supporters and before the clash with Arsenal gets underway, a group of fans will protest over how the club is run. The planned protest comes after weeks of chants calling for the sacking of director of football Jon Rudkin.
Under the banner Project Reset, fans will gather at the Local Hero pub an hour before kick-off before marching down Raw Dykes Road towards the King Power Stadium. The organisers are encouraging supporters to wear yellow, a colour that is symbolic in the owner’s home nation of Thailand for its connection to the monarchy, and also to chant loudly in the 14th minute.
Chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has acknowledged the fans’ frustration in his programme notes for the game, asking for the crowd to support the team against Arsenal.
