If someone has $150,000, you too can embark on a space adventure. 

Tetris Kelly:

So Billboard crew, five women have gone to space, yet everyone seems to be irritated with Katy Perry. Are we upset? What’s the deal?

Jerah Milligan:

I simply don’t care.

Stefanie Tanaka:

I understand the frustration people have. I’m not sure I feel that strongly about it though.

Tetris Kelly:

Why are they upset?

Stefanie Tanaka:

Well, many people are struggling lately. It doesn’t seem very uplifting to witness extremely wealthy individuals simply heading to space. 

Ciara Zimring:

It’s not conveying what they believe it is. They see it as inspiring, sending a group of women to space, but it’s actually more about sending wealthy individuals rather than deserving female astronauts who should be launched into space. 

Stefanie Tanaka:

Absolutely, yes. 

Ciara Zimring:

That would be more meaningful. 

Stefanie Tanaka:

Visually, it’s appealing to see a group of women, particularly women of color, ascending to space. It looks good in photos-

Jerah Milligan:

As a photo.  

Stefanie Tanaka:

But remember, this entire venture was financed by Jeff Bezos. They wouldn’t be launching if it weren’t for him. If this were Elon Musk, the reactions would be identical. All these billionaires are fixated on space exploration because they plan to abandon this planet when it inevitably faces devastation.

Tetris Kelly:

Stefanie has some strong feelings. 

Stefanie Tanaka:

They’ll ascend as soon as this planet descends into chaos due to climate change.

Tetris Kelly:

And what I find amusing is that there’s this supposedly inspirational moment, yet throughout Gayle’s involvement, she appeared frightened. She seemed reluctant to be there, questioning her presence, asking how she ended up on that spacecraft.
