Travis Scott is familiar with fans approaching him, but he was caught off guard to find an Oscar-winning actor among them.
In a recent Complex feature published this week, the Utopia artist reminisced about a recent encounter with Adrien Brody during Paris Fashion Week, where the actor astonished him not only by being a fan of his music but also by revealing he’s a music producer.
“I sat next to him and I’m thinking, ‘Damn, I don’t even know if this guy knows who I am,’” Scott mentioned. “And the first thing he says to me is, ‘Yo, dude, I f*** with your s***.’ And I’m like, ‘What the f***?’”
Brody, who recently received the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist, continued to inform Scott that he creates music. “You know, I make beats and s***,” Brody stated, according to Scott. “I’m like, ‘You need to send me some beats!’ So we had a great chat. Man, that blew my mind. That’s insane.”

Scott mentioned to Complex that the meeting left a lasting impression — not just because he admires Brody’s acting, including his performances in Wes Anderson films, but also due to the surprising creative connection. “That film is intense as f***,” he commented on The Brutalist. “I hope he wins Best Actor. That’s my guy.”
Brody’s passion for music isn’t recent. In a 2024 discussion with the Los Angeles Times, he shared that his journey into beatmaking started in the mid-’90s after working on Angels in the Outfield.
“I spent time with some kids in The Bay in Oakland who were producing and rapping… I began creating tracks with them and learned the craft, then returned to LA, and this was pre-internet.”
Scott, whose album Utopia made its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2023, continues to merge boundaries between hip-hop, art, and pop culture. His Coachella performance this weekend is his first time leading the festival, joining headliners Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone.
