Static-X are preparing to release a new documentary film on the band by the title of ‘Evil Disco: The Rise, Fall, And Regeneration Of Static-X‘. The platinum-certified group saw fit to issue the below first trailer for that film in light of today, March 23rd, being the 25th anniversary of the release date of their platinum-certified debut album, “Wisconsin Death Trip“.
Numerous guests and peers of the band are seen taking part in interviews in the film, including members of Fear Factory, Jane’s Addiction, Hatebreed and more. Static-X refer to their brand of industrial metal as ‘evil disco’ and of course have experienced a tumultuous career.
The band’s initial run ended in a bitter split with legal woes following. There was also the ousting of guitarist Tripp Eisen after he was arrested and convicted for having had sexual relations with a minor, and ultimately, the untimely death of vocalist/guitarist Wayne Static.
While his passing seemed to mark the end of the storied outfit, a surprising resurrection in 2018 saw the group’s classic-era lineup return with Edsel Dope of Dope fame performing live as a living effigy of Static, appearing under the name Xer0. Two albums featuring recordings constructed around songs left behind by Static and various tours have since followed.
