An insider with close knowledge of Tiger Woods disclosed further information about the 49-year-old’s relationship with Vanessa Trump.
“He knew it would be a huge story when it came out,” a member of his inner circle told the Daily Mail. “He didn’t exactly love it. But obviously Tiger dating a Trump is always going to make headlines, which is exactly what he wanted to avoid.”
Woods, who tore his Achilles on March 11 to effectively end any of his golf ambitions for 2025, was previously keeping the relationship under wraps until the Mail released a report on March 13 that the celebrity pair were together.
On March 21, Woods took to X and posted photos of himself with Vanessa Trump in an attempt to control the narrative of how they’re covered.
“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side!” Woods wrote. “We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for all those close to our hearts.” The post has garnered close over 100,000 likes.
Both Woods (Charlie and Sam) and Trump (Kai) send their children to the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida. The pair live around a 20-minute drive from each other.
“Benjamin is like a small community,” the insider continued. “There’s nothing that rich people like to do more than gossip about each other. Frankly, I’m surprised that it was secret for so long.”

Vanessa, who divorced Donald Trump Jr. in 2018, was pictured arriving with Woods ahead of January’s PGA Tour Genesis Invitational in California.
Woods was worried the story would go public and sought to avoid attracting attention. “They just quietly did their thing,” the insider added. “But Tiger isn’t one to get kissy or handsy in public anyway.”
Woods had a messy split from his previous wife, Elin Nordegren. In one instance, he allegedly fled a fight with her in his home, only to crash his car into a nearby tree.
On March 11, Woods announced his ruptured his left Achilles tendon. According to his friend and fellow golfer Fred Couples, he remains in good spirits.
“I’ve texted him. As soon as it happened, he got back to me, and I texted him on a couple of other things — about TGL, his daughter just won that state soccer thing,” Couples said. “I mean, that was before he hurt himself. He was on Cloud 20. It was amazing. He’s in great spirits for a ruptured Achilles. He really is.”
