The Weeknd’s ‘Call Out My Name Video’ Exceeds 1 Billion Views On YouTube
The Weeknd‘s video for the song “Call Out My Name,” from his debut EP My Dear Melancholy, has surpassed over 1 billion views on YouTube.
In the visual, directed by Grant Singer, the Weeknd is seen wandering an empty road at dusk, before bats explode from his head at the chorus. “So call out my name/ Call out my name when I kiss you so gently/ I want you to stay,” he sings.
The Weeknd is then seen standing on a stage against a blank screen and walking among a fire-filled landscape with its animal inhabitants frozen. The video also shows a creepy woodland creature, which appears towards the end of the clip as well, staring into the camera from an apartment balcony.
The Weeknd and producer Frank Dukes co-wrote “Call Out My Name.” Musician Nicolas Jaar also received a writing credit, as the song used his 2016 track “Killing Time.”
“Call Out My Name” is not the first song by The Weeknd to cross the coveted 1 billion views landmark on YouTube. His After Hours track “Save Your Tears,” and “I Feel It Coming,” a 2016 collab with Daft Punk, are among his five other videos that have crossed the 1 billion views mark.
