In the clip released in 2018, The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) strolls down an empty road during twilight, before bats burst from his head during the chorus. “So call out my name/ Call out my name when I kiss you so gently/ I want you to stay,” he croons in the hook.
He then takes the stage against a blank backdrop, traversing a fiery landscape with its animal residents paused in time. He captures the attention of an eerie forest creature, who reappears at the video’s conclusion, gazing into the lens from a balcony.
At the time of its release, “Call Out My Name” reached No. 4 on the overall Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also attained No. 14 on the US Rhythmic chart and earned a triple platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The song is featured on The Weeknd’s 2018 EP, My Dear Melancholy, which topped both the all-genre Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
