SZA has a strong support system, including influential names like Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar. During her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show Friday (March 21), the “Saturn” artist shared that she and the pop icon have talked about possible collaboration and discussed the insights she’s gained from the Compton rapper prior to their Super Bowl performance and the forthcoming Grand National Tour.
The conversation about Swift surfaced when host Jennifer Hudson showed a clip of the “Karma” singer and SZA together at the 2025 Grammys. “Each time she comes up to me, I’m just like, ‘Okay, this is really happening because it’s totally Taylor Swift,’” enthused the R&B star.

“I remember saying that I would really like to write with her and create some projects together,” SZA elaborated. “I admire her narrative style. She was open to it. I think she’s incredible. She’s so empowered.”
SZA also took the opportunity to highlight some other singer-songwriters she admires for their narrative prowess in music: Gracie Abrams, Lola Young, Doechii, Olivia Rodrigo, and Chappell Roan.
This talk show appearance is not the first time the “Kill Bill” artist has expressed her admiration for Swift. Earlier in 2023, when SZA’s SOS and Swift’s Midnights albums were vying for the top position on the Billboard 200, SZA clarified on X that the rivalry was purely amicable, stating, “I don’t have issues with ANYONE, especially not Taylor, lol. I genuinely appreciated her album and the songwriting!”
Now, two years later, SZA is preparing to hit the road with Lamar for their joint tour, commencing April 19 in Minneapolis. The pair teased fans with a glimpse of what to anticipate in February during Dot’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, where the “I Hate U” artist joined him on stage at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome for two tracks: “Luther” and “All the Stars.”
Before setting off on the tour, SZA expressed to Hudson that she’s “truly eager to learn” from her long-time collaborator while they’re on the road. “I get to pick up various tips and observe how he conducts himself, how he expresses emotions,” she shared. “Watching him perform is experiencing something truly magical.”
“One time, he advised me to visualize watching myself from above,” she recounted. “He sees himself while performing, and it really transformed a lot for me. It was unusual, as I watched myself from a distance, I thought, ‘This isn’t what I want to see; I want to feel something different. I want to elevate.’ Then I began to channel a completely different energy and spirit within myself.”
