Sum 41 have canceled their Australian Tour due to lead singer and rhythm guitarist Deryck Whibley‘s poor health.
The legendary rock band announced the cancellation of the Australian tour on the eve of their co-headlining shows at the Good Things Festival with Korn in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney this weekend.
Sum 41 announced the cancellation in a statement posted on social media Thursday, citing medical advice from Australian doctors who deemed Whibley too unwell to perform.
“It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce our 2024 Australian tour is unable to proceed. We were beyond excited to deliver this tour from December 4 – December 12, and connect with our Aussie fans once more,” the band said. “Now that we’re here though, and under the guidance and direction of multiple Australian doctors, it’s clear that Deryck is too unwell to perform. We understand and appreciate your disappointment – we’re gutted too.”
The band had earlier cancelled their appearance at a show that was scheduled to be held at the Fortitude Valley Music Hall in Brisbane on Wednesday after revealing that Deryck has been diagnosed with pneumonia.
