Kyle Meredith sat down with Sofia Carson, Kyle Allen, and Sebastian De Souza to talk about their new Netflix film The Life List. Despite its premise of a grieving daughter completing a bucket list for her late mother, the movie manages to be a heartwarming, feel-good journey. “It could have been a real bummer of a movie, but we had so much fun making it,” Carson says, giving credit to director Adam Brooks for setting the tone. The trio discusses filming in New York, how the city itself became a character in the movie, and how Brooks curated a soundtrack that brought the story to life. Carson even took piano lessons to master “Clair de Lune” for a pivotal scene. Meanwhile, Allen talks about his longboarding commute and how his character’s Labrador energy comes naturally, and De Souza reveals his unexpected double life as a novelist, much to the surprise of his co-stars.
Patrick Ewing even makes a memorable appearance in the film, with Carson recalling the surreal experience of shooting basketball with the legendary player: “He was so sweet and patient with me — even though it took about nine tries to make that basket!”
