Gomez and Blanco have been hinting at their collaboration on music over the past few months. The “Rare” artist shared a video on her Instagram Stories in January, donning headphones while situated at what seems to be a studio workstation, before she flipped the camera to show the screen in front of her, covering its content with a red heart emoji.
In a former TikTok clip, the producer reacted to a viewer’s remark on a past video, saying, “Benny, please create some new tracks for our queen.” Blanco entered a home studio, revealing Gomez seated on a couch adjusting a microphone.
Gomez has not put out a full-length album since her 2020 third studio work Rare, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and gave her first-ever No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Lose You to Love Me.” In 2021, she released a Spanish-language EP Revelación.
This isn’t the first occasion Blanco and Gomez have collaborated on music. Blanco co-produced “Kill Em with Kindness” and “Same Old Love” from Gomez’s 2015 album Revival, and the pair worked together on the 2019 song “I Can’t Get Enough,” featuring Tainy and J Balvin. Most recently, they joined forces on Gomez’s track “Single Soon.”
The couple began their relationship in June 2023 and got engaged last month. Gomez disclosed the joyful news with a December 11 Instagram carousel showcasing her marquise-cut engagement ring, along with the caption, “forever starts now..”
