Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is being sought by police in connection with a major accident that occurred on Saturday in Dallas, according to reports from the Dallas Morning News.
The incident, which took place in northeast Dallas around 6:20 p.m. local time, involved a vehicle believed to be registered to or leased by Rice. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for Rice in connection with the crash, as confirmed by a police call sheet obtained by the Dallas Morning News.
According to a spokeswoman for the Dallas police, the crash involved a Chevrolet Corvette and a Lamborghini, both of which were reportedly speeding. Both drivers lost control of their vehicles, resulting in the Lamborghini colliding with the median wall and causing a subsequent chain reaction involving four other vehicles.
Following the crash, occupants of both the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene. Four individuals sustained minor injuries, with two requiring hospitalization.
As of Sunday morning, it remains unclear whether Rice will face charges, and the extent of his involvement in the accident is yet to be determined. Notably, Rice was not listed in Dallas County jail records as of 7 a.m. ET on Sunday.
Rice, 23, hails from the Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills, Texas, and played collegiate football at SMU in Dallas before being drafted by the Chiefs in the second round last year.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, Rice emerged as a key wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs during the previous season, ranking second on the team in receptions and receiving yards, behind only Travis Kelce. He also led the team in touchdown catches and contributed significantly during the Chiefs’ postseason journey to their second consecutive Super Bowl championship.
