The Arsenal dressing room reaction to the 0-0 Premier League draw against Manchester City has been made very clear. The Gunners have already beaten Pep Guardiola’s side twice this season and headed to Etihad Stadium with the aim of avoiding defeat for the first time in eight years.
With both teams not wanting to lose, it was a cagey affair and that was reflected by just three shots on target taking place in the game. It must be said however, that William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes put in a superb defensive performance to limit Erling Haaland to just 23 touches and four shots, which all flew off target.
In this exact clash last season Arsenal were blown away, however they were perhaps disappointed to not come away with all three points on Sunday and that was made clear by captain Martin Odegaard and player of the match Saliba.
“We want all the three points, obviously,” Odegaard said on Sky Sports. “We tried our best to get a win but in the end we couldn’t do enough. We take the point and move on.” Saliba added: “No, we cannot be satisfied when we draw, but it is okay. We know some games when we cannot win we don’t have to lose, so that’s what we did. We did well.”
The points being shared really only benefitted Liverpool though, especially after their 2-1 win against Brighton. The Reds now sit top of the Premier League table, although they will play their next fixture the day after Arsenal and Man City are in action.
While the point picked up away at the reigning champions could prove vital for Arsenal, even more reaction from the Arsenal squad suggests they are far from happy with the outcome. Following on from his post-match verdict, Saliba took to Instagram to share more of his thoughts where he wrote: “We always want more but thank you for your support Gooners.”

Jorginho also offered his verdict on the game when posting to Instagram. “Tough one yesterday but we are already focused on the next challenge, coming up this Wednesday,” he wrote. As the Italy international states, Arsenal are back in action in just 48 hours when they welcome Luton Town to Emirates Stadium.
