Adrian Meronk has revealed that he’s been in touch with European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald following a promising start to the LIV Golf season in 2025.
Meronk has already tasted victory this season, securing his first-ever LIV title in Riyadh in February. He then tied for 12th place in Adelaide after another impressive week, although he couldn’t replicate his top form in the subsequent LIV events in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Hoping for more triumphs this week, Meronk is among several LIV stars participating in the Asian Tour at the International Series Macau, where Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia are also competing. Both Reed and Garcia have had strong starts to the week, with Reed leading the event and Garcia tied for fifth. Meronk is currently tied for 32nd at four-under-par, trailing Reed by nine shots.
The Polish golfer will be aiming for a significant weekend performance for numerous reasons. In addition to the opportunity to earn much-needed Official World Golf Ranking points, Meronk has the chance to secure a spot at The Open Championship. The top three finishers who haven’t already qualified will earn a place to compete at Royal Portrush.
The added bonus for Meronk is the chance to impress Donald, who has already taken notice of his performance earlier in the season. “There are still lots of tournaments to be played, and competing against those guys on LIV Golf is not easy. So yes, if you are getting top 10s on there, you are playing well,” Meronk remarked following his second round in Macau.
“Luke Donald texted me after my win in Riyadh and said, ‘keep playing well.’ Obviously, if I am playing well, I will be available and I want to play. But it is not my main goal. I think the focus is just to play well and see what happens. I feel like my game is progressing nicely, but I just need to be patient and work hard and see what happens.”

Meronk was left feeling “shocked, sad, and angry” after being overlooked for Donald’s victorious Ryder Cup team in 2023. The Cleeks GC player also eyes a spot in this year’s Open, aware that he must bring his A-game in the final two rounds to claim one of the three available spots.
“It is the biggest goal this weekend, to grab one of those spots. I will need to have a good weekend to do that,” he admitted. “Yes, it is huge for us, especially for me. I do not have any majors yet this year, so that is going to be the main focus for this tournament.”
Despite participating in all four flagship events in 2023 and 2024, Meronk is on track to miss out on the major circuit in 2025.
