Dakota Kai was last seen in WWE over six weeks ago, as she competed on RAW on March 17 and on a WWE Live Event on March 27. Amid her absence, there has been speculation about her status and a report suggests that WWE has benched her lately. Still, this might not be the case.
WWE Has Not Benched Dakota Kai
Dakota Kai provided an update on her status, saying that she was missing wrestling and WWE fans and was looking forward to her comeback. The former champion also revealed that she was healthy and was not dealing with an injury that would keep her out.
Per WWE Insider Cory Hays, the creative team plans to use Kai again and has no intention of benching her. IYO SKY has been unstoppable lately as the Women’s World Champion and WWE continues to push her in singles action.
WWE Creative is likely waiting for the return of the other Damage CTRL members, Asuka and Kairi Sane, who have been out for months with injuries. Both should be back soon, though, and this might be the time for the New Zealand-born superstar to return as well.
Dakota Kai Says She Would Love to Have Another Run on NXT
It has been three years since the last time that The Captain of Team Kick was on NXT. Since then, she has moved to RAW as part of Damage CTRL, but she revealed during an interview with BodySlam.net that she would love to come back to NXT for another run.
Dakota Kai noted, “I never held the NXT Women’s Championship, or they’ve even got the [Women’s] North American Championship now. I would love to wrestle any of those girls. You’ve got Kelani [Jordan], Lash [Legend], Sol [Ruca], all of these girls. Fallon [Henley], the list goes on and on and on.
“You could just blindly point and be like, ‘she’s dope! ’Any of those girlies, I’d love to wrestle in the ring. Even the new girls on the LFG show, like Penina [Tuilaepa], she’s so cool! She’s got to barbecue for me, she cooks Samoan food,” said the former Women’s Tag Team Champion.
Her last feud on RAW was a match with Lyra Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The Damage CTRL star lost and missed the opportunity to become singles champion for the first time in her WWE career.
Thus, it will be interesting to see if she will get another title shot or WWE Creative will move her to NXT for a while before bringing her back to the main roster.
