Ringo Starr has unveiled a music video for “Gonna Need Someone,” one of many standout tracks from his new project, Crooked Boy.
The visual begins with a cue from Ringo: “Okay. Start the film!” Vintage footage of the Beatles icon is interspersed with trippy visuals of him and his band performing the song.
Ringo’s signature peace signs abound as he sings during the chorus, “Gonna need someone, gonna need someone to love.”

All songs on Crooked Boy were written and produced by Linda Perry for Starr to make his own, adding vocals and playing drums. The EP was released on a limited-edition marble vinyl on Record Store Day, April 20, 2024. The album arrived on DSPs today, April 26. Fans can pre-order the black vinyl and CD now, releasing May 31.

After previously collaborating on two songs that appeared on earlier Ringo EPs (“Coming Undone” on ‘Change the World’ and “Everyone and Everything” on ‘EP3′), Linda approached Ringo and asked if she could produce an entire EP – and Crooked Boy, consisting of “February Sky,” “Gonna Need Someone,” “Adeline,” and “Crooked Boy” is the result.
“Linda made me a great EP – she produced it in her studio and then sent me the tracks and I added the drumming and my vocals,” Ringo said.
In another news, the rock legend recently announced new tour dates for his Ringo & His All Starr Band Fall Tour, which will see them return to a few of Ringo’s favorite venues.
These spots include Fallsview Casino in Ontario, where he has launched several tours (2010, 2012) and to Radio City Music Hall where he has performed eight times with the All Starrs between 1992-2018. That celebrated venue was also where, on July 7, 2010, Ringo and the All Starrs were joined by two surprise guests, his fellow Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney and Joe Walsh, in celebration of Ringo’s 70th birthday.
Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band featuring Steve Lukather, Edgar Winter, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart and Gregg Bissonette will play 12 shows overall.
