Real Madrid were made to work for their place in the Copa del Rey final with a 5-4 aggregate win over Real Sociedad in extra time.

Ander Barrenetxea put the visitors ahead at the Santiago Bernabéu and level in the tie by slotting through Andriy Lunin’s legs from a clever Pablo Marín assist.
Parity lasted barely a quarter of an hour as Endrick nudged Carlo Ancelotti’s ahead on aggregate with a dinked finish following Vinícius Júnior’s defence-splitting pass.
The Txuri-Urdin struck back with Marín’s effort cannoning back off Los Blancos’ Antonio Rüdiger, who also deflected Mikel Oyarzabal’s strike into his own net.
The advantage proved to be as short-lived as their opener with Jude Bellingham volleying in from Vinícius’ left-sided deliver inside the penalty area.
A breathless finale at the Santiago Bernabéu took another turn as Aurélien Tchouaméni scored his first goal of the season by heading home Rodrygo’s corner.
But there was one final twist in normal time as Oyarzabal glanced home a Sergio Gómez set piece past Lunin to send the tie into an additional 30 minutes.
Just minutes into the second half of extra time, Rüdiger redeemed himself by meeting substitute Arda Güler’s corner with a deft header to tip the balance.
Madrid will take on the winner of Wednesday’s other semi-final between neighbours Atlético de Madrid and arch-rivals Barcelona.
