Our dear Boyan is back with a blast today.
He got together with legendary US singer Nic Hanson (whom we’ve heard in collabs with the likes of Moon Boots, Dana Williams, Jafunk & Fabich) for “Something”.
Stemming from his love for funky & groovy music, Boyan crafted a truly uplifting, summery instrumental with catchy samples, moving beat & playful basslines. He elaborates, “Disco has always been a part of me since the start of my music career one way or another mainly because it’s always been a favorite genre to play whenever I’m behind the decks DJing. Since the start of 2024, I’ve almost completely stepped away from the club & djing part of my life mainly because I now focus more on my family and studio production & business but, to be honest, I do miss playing my favourite disco tunes in the club, so this track came about as a way of me satisfying my hunger for the stage & the good vibes. Of course, almost every good funky disco track needs a proper voice and Nic Hanson truly delivered in my opinion. The dude is absolutely brilliant when it comes to this kind of groovy vibe and his vocals make you wanna sing along in an instant!“
Nic brings his A-game here, too, with warm but uplifting vocals, catchy hooks and very relatable lyricism about the simplicity of attraction. He adds, “As soon as Boyan sent the instrumental to me, it was automatic. The song completely wrote itself, I just wanted to really weave the vocals in between the textures of his production. The song has an effortlessness to it, in its groove. That sort of unique quality is reflected in that “something that I can’t define” chorus line, whatever that chemistry is, that is the essence of good music and collaboration.“
