Peter Schrager Announces He’s Leaving Good Morning Football

Peter Schrager has confirmed the rumors – he’s leaving Good Morning Football. The 42-year-old sports commentator made the announcement on the Monday, March 31, episode of the NFL Network’s beloved morning show, revealing that the day would be his last on the program. “The rumors are true,” Schrager said, addressing fans and colleagues alike. “Today is my last day on Good Morning Football. I end with great feelings. We’re going to celebrate today. I love everyone on this show.”

Schrager was an original host when Good Morning Football first aired in August 2016. The show quickly became a fan favorite with its fresh, energetic take on NFL coverage. For several years, the program was filmed in New York City, but last year, the show moved its studio to Los Angeles. Schrager, along with co-host Kyle Brandt, opted not to relocate. Instead, they continued to participate remotely from their desk in New York, while the new hosts – Jamie Erdahl, Akbar Gbajabiamila, and Sherree Burruss – joined the show in Los Angeles.

Even though Schrager was leaving Good Morning Football, he reassured viewers that this wouldn’t be the last time they’d see him. “I won’t be far away, I’ll be talking about football somewhere,” he teased at the end of the episode.

While Schrager didn’t confirm his next move on air, reports surfaced shortly before his announcement suggesting that he is in talks with ESPN. Front Office Sports reported that Schrager could soon be contributing to ESPN’s NFL Live, First Take with Stephen A. Smith, and Get Up with Mike Greenberg. If a deal is finalized, Schrager might even be part of ABC and ESPN’s coverage of the 2025 NFL Draft, which takes place from April 24 to 26. However, it’s likely that Schrager will no longer appear on Fox’s Sunday pre-game show.

Along with his role on Good Morning Football, Schrager also hosted The Season with Peter Schrager, a podcast under the NFL Podcast Network. It’s currently unclear whether Schrager will take the podcast with him to ESPN, but fans are eager to see what comes next for the seasoned commentator.
