Alright, buckle up buttercups, ’cause Orlando’s own TV Generation is back to kick you in the teeth with their sophomore slugger, “Passafist,” dropping July 1st! This ain’t your grandma’s tea party music; this is eleven tracks of pure, unadulterated punk rock.

Word on the street is that this time around, Eric’s stepped up to the mic as the main songwriter and vocalist/rhythm slinger, and let me tell ya, the dude’s got something to say. But don’t worry, the trusty crew – Jerry, Jorge, and Billy – are still laying down those thunderous basslines, ripping guitar solos that’ll melt your face, and keeping the beatdown steady, just like they did on 2022’s “Cheap Times.” And you know the sound’s gonna be killer, ’cause Rob McGregor at Goldentone Studios was the mad scientist behind the recording, mixing, and mastering.
So, what’s the lowdown on these tracks? Dig into the lyrics, and you’ll find a band wrestling with the daily grind, the feeling that things are messed up (“Handful of Nothing”), and trying to find your way when you feel lost and like a ghost (“Beep Beep Richie”). But there’s also a defiant streak, a “don’t mess with me” attitude (“My Way,” “Wild Things,” the album title “Passafist” itself!). They’re calling out the brainwashed masses (“American Undead”) and the phonies out there (“Daisy”).
It ain’t all just anger and angst, though. There’s a sense of not wanting to be dragged down by the negativity (“Not in Kansas Anymore”), a feeling of solidarity with those who are struggling (“I’m With You”), and a frustration with the powers that be (“Billy’s Song”). And yeah, there’s even a touch of something that sounds kinda like love or at least deep connection in the chaos (“XOXO”), before they flip you off with a final “I Don’t Care.”
This album’s a punch in the face followed by a hug — and maybe another punch, just to make sure you’re awake. It’s the sound of someone trying to crawl out of their own skin, looking around at a burning world and going, “Well, guess I’ll still drink my coffee.”
From breakdowns to breakups, from screaming at the news to whispering “I’m with you” through the static, this record’s a mess in all the right ways. It’s anxiety wrapped in feedback, anger dressed as melody, and a middle finger pointed at apathy. There’s rage, yeah — but there’s also heart. And honesty. And those late-night thoughts that hit when you can’t sleep and your brain won’t shut the hell up.
It’s not about having answers — it’s about calling out the bullshit, standing by your people, and screaming your lungs out when nothing else makes sense.
Get ready to crank this one up loud — and maybe start a little righteous rebellion of your own. July 1st can’t come soon enough. Stay tuned on their streaming platforms: Spotify and Bandcamp.
