There’s nothing we love more than never before seen (and heard) musical oddities. As news breaks of Paul McCartney laying down tracks with Ringo Starr ahead of the drummer’s latest studio album, we’ve caught wind of another historic event.
OK, so there isn’t exactly a Beatles reunion on the cards, but there’s a bloody great exhibition taking place at Proud Chelsea and we think you need to check it out. ‘The Beatles Unseen: Photographs by David Magnus’ is a moving documentation of the legendary band’s rise to fame, with Magnus being the photographer who bore witness to some of their greatest moments.
At the age of 19, Magnus was invited to photograph a relatively unknown band, The Beatles, during a concert at Stowe School. Over subsequent years, the photographer built a close relationship with the band, and on the weekend of 24th and 25th June 1967, he bore witness to The Beatles recording the iconic “All you need is Love” for the first time during a live broadcast for the BBC’s ‘Our World’.
This exhibition, featuring many previously unseen photographs, is a candid insight into The Beatles during an historic occasion taken at the world famous EMI Studio 1 in Abbey Road. Featuring sneaky appearances from rock ‘n’ roll legends like Mick Jagger, this a must see for any fan of the fab four.
Catch, ‘The Beatles Unseen: Photographs by David Magnus’ at Proud Chelsea from 16th March – 14th May 2017.
