Lionel Messi showcased his brilliance once again, netting twice and providing an assist as Inter Miami secured a 3-1 victory over Nashville SC on Saturday. With his Major League Soccer-leading total now at seven goals, Messi continues to dominate the league.
Sergio Busquets also made his mark, scoring his first goal for Miami since teaming up with Messi last summer. Despite conceding an early own goal, Miami rallied with goals from Messi and Busquets in the 11th and 39th minutes, respectively.
While Nashville managed to find the net early on, Miami’s resilience and Messi’s magic turned the tide in their favor. Messi’s clinical finishing and Busquets’ precise header from Messi’s corner kick ensured Miami’s victory and maintained their unbeaten streak against Nashville since Messi’s arrival.
Goalkeeper Drake Callender played a crucial role in preserving Miami’s lead with a spectacular save in the second half. And Messi sealed the win with a well-taken penalty kick in the 81st minute, further cementing his influence on the game.
With the victory, Miami remains atop the Eastern Conference standings, continuing their impressive form in the league. Messi’s former Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba was sidelined due to injury, but Messi’s stellar performance more than compensated for his absence.
Miami will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming fixture against New England, while Nashville aims to bounce back when they face San Jose.
