During an appearance on a recent episode of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Machine Gun Kelly opened up about how a conversation with his young daughter helped him decide to get sober.
“It started with my daughter saying, ‘Dad, you know I can tell when you’re high?’ It broke my heart,” MGK, born Colson Baker said on the podcast. “It was the ultimate let down.”
Kelly said that his daughter, Casie, was just 11 or 12 years old at the time.
“It took me a while afterward, because obviously drugs have a vice grip on you,” he added. “That was step one for me. As a father and as a man, to be the father I wish my dad would have been, I have to break this generational curse for my kid.”
Earlier this month, Kelly said during an appearance on Bunnie Xo‘s podcast “Dumb Blonde” that he’s one year sober. He said that he is “completely sober from everything.”
“I don’t drink anymore. I haven’t drank since last August,” he said. “That was my first time I ever went to rehab.”
