The Australian music industry’s leading trade organization and copyright collecting society for local labels is undergoing transformations.
Lynne Small, the COO of the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA), has revealed her plans to resign from her dual position at the agencies effective April 30.
Small began her journey with PPCA in 1996, having previously spent seven years at Festival Records as the Group Finance Manager. She initially held the roles of Finance Manager and subsequently Finance Administration Manager, with her influence growing over the years, culminating in her appointment as General Manager for both PPCA and ARIA in 2011.
In 2021, Small assumed the Chief Operating Officer position simultaneously with the appointment of Annabelle Herd as Chief Executive Officer.
Through her contributions at ARIA and PPCA, Small has become a prominent and respected figure within the Australian music sector, with her influence extending well beyond the organizations she has represented. She will maintain her current position until April 30, while also remaining involved on a part-time basis to support vital PPCA initiatives and aid in ARIA’s transition.

“I’ve been extremely fortunate to have dedicated most of my career to organizations that advocate for and nurture Australian music,” Small expressed in a statement. “The connections, obstacles, and successes over the last 28 years have been remarkably fulfilling, and I am thankful to have collaborated with such passionate and skilled individuals, both within and outside of ARIA and PPCA.
“Although I am eager for this new chapter, I will always be invested in the ongoing success of ARIA, PPCA, and the Australian music scene, remaining a strong supporter from the sidelines!”
“Lynne’s impact is immense. She hasn’t just been a leader; she’s been the essence of ARIA and PPCA, a reliable advisor, and a guiding light through many changes,” Herd remarked. “Her comprehensive understanding of the industry, along with her warmth, integrity, and humor, will create an extraordinary legacy and a positive influence on all of Australian music.
“While this represents a major shift for ARIA and PPCA, we are lucky to have Lynne’s ongoing support during this transition, and we will always be thankful for her significant contributions.”
In conjunction with Small’s announcement, the organizations have shared that Julia Robinson will be elevated to Head of Government Relations and Programs, and Rohini Sivakumar will be promoted to General Counsel & Company Secretary. Their new positions will commence on May 1.
ARIA and PPCA have also released a job listing for a new Head Of Finance, with complete information available on the recruitment platform SEEK.
