Laura Pieri (LP) – Fierce, Fearless, and Unapologetically Original
When LP steps up to a microphone, something electric happens. The voice—raw, unshakable, and instantly recognizable—takes over the room, pulling you into a world where every lyric is a confession, every note a rebellion. For years, LP has defied easy categorization, navigating the music industry on their own terms with a genre-blending sound that fuses rock, pop, indie, and soul into something utterly unique.
Born Laura Pergolizzi, LP first found acclaim behind the scenes, penning hits for global artists like Rihanna (“Cheers (Drink to That)”), Christina Aguilera (“Beautiful People”), and the Backstreet Boys. But it wasn’t until LP stepped forward with their own voice and vision that the full force of their artistry came into view. That moment arrived with “Lost On You,” a global smash that introduced millions to LP’s powerful vocals, vivid lyrics, and genre-defiant style. Since then, LP has continued to evolve, surprise, and inspire.
Now LP returns with their new single “One Like You,” an anthem built for emotional release and wide-open spaces. It’s the first offering from their upcoming album Love Lines, and it marks a return to what LP does best—writing songs that are both intimate and universal, explosive and vulnerable. “This album feels like a homecoming,” LP has shared. “It’s me trusting myself, stepping back into what feels right.”
“One Like You” is a towering showcase of LP’s musical strengths: soaring vocals, honest lyrics, and a cinematic arrangement that balances melancholy with strength. It’s a love song, but not a typical one. It aches with longing, glows with gratitude, and pulses with the kind of melody that lives in your chest long after the final chord. Produced by the award-winning Matthew Pauling (5 Seconds of Summer, Palaye Royale), the track combines acoustic intimacy with full-band energy—classic LP, elevated for 2025.
For longtime fans, Love Lines promises to be a return to form: honest, emotional, and uncompromising. For new listeners, it’s a perfect introduction to an artist who continues to push the boundaries of what pop and rock can sound like when shaped by authenticity. From heartbreak to euphoria, LP’s lyrics speak directly to the complexities of human connection, identity, and self-acceptance.
A visual storyteller as much as a sonic one, LP’s music videos are often rich with narrative and symbolism. The video for “One Like You” is no exception—filled with sweeping desert landscapes, dramatic lighting, and LP’s signature blend of elegance and edge. It’s a visual representation of the journey: sometimes solitary, sometimes stormy, but always moving forward.
Beyond the music, LP has become an icon of self-expression. Openly queer and proudly non-binary, LP uses both their platform and lyrics to explore themes of identity, love, and emotional freedom. Their fashion, performances, and public voice defy convention and inspire a generation of fans who see in LP not just an artist, but an advocate.
Now featured on NEWHD LA, LP joins a curated roster of artists committed to making music that matters. At NEWHD LA, we champion voices that break molds, shift genres, and tell stories with purpose—and LP fits that mission perfectly. Their songs don’t just entertain. They empower. They comfort. When Laura Pieri first released “Daughter of Demeter” in the spring of 2024, it arrived like a lightning strike—blistering, emotional, and unapologetically raw. Now, just months later, Pieri has returned with a new interpretation: “Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR),” a hypnotic remix that strips away the scream and replaces it with a slow-burning, seductive pulse.
And with it, comes a video that reshapes the story entirely.
Directed with an eye for nuance and tension, the new video casts Pieri not as a woman unraveling but as one fully in command. Lit in moody hues and set in a surreal, dreamlike nightclub space, the visuals follow Pieri through a series of choreographed moments that evoke heartbreak without collapsing into it. There’s a certain elegance to her defiance. Each movement is intentional. Each look, unflinching. This isn’t just a remix—it’s a reclamation.
“This remix is what happens when that fire simmers into something slower, sharper, and slyer,” Pieri explains. “The fury isn’t gone. There’s a defiance in turning pain into pleasure, and that’s what this version does: it lounges in heartbreak with style. It’s rage on vacation.”
The video reflects this shift in tone perfectly. There’s no longer a need to shout. Pieri’s power is in the restraint. Where the original track was about release, this one is about control. It’s about dancing with grief rather than letting it consume you. “Sometimes healing looks like dancing,” she says. “Sometimes grief shows up in a slow sway.”
This creative evolution comes as Pieri continues to explore new layers in her artistry. Born in São Paulo and now living between New York and Los Angeles, she juggles the demands of an MBA program with the relentless pace of pop stardom. Her work merges sleek pop with the rhythmic energy of her Brazilian roots, producing songs that move both body and soul.
The remix will appear alongside “Sea of Tragedy (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)” on Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR), the expanded edition of her Frankie EP due later this summer. The original EP, released in May 2024, was a turning point for Pieri. Created alongside an all-female writing team and executive produced by Skyler Cocco, Frankie and its accompanying short film told the story of a woman rebuilding herself after heartbreak and creative exhaustion. It marked an artistic rebirth born from the brink of quitting.
With the ON THE DANCEFLOOR project, Pieri is diving deeper into that transformation—revisiting the same emotions through a more refined, confident lens. The new video for “Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)” is the first glimpse into this next chapter.
It’s not just a remix. It’s a new mood, a new vision, and a bold step forward.
