LIV Golf took a playful jab at the PGA Tour on social media after Wesley Bryan was suspended for participating in a LIV influencer event.
Bryan has taken part in two PGA Tour influencer events over the past year, as well as a similar event hosted by LIV Golf earlier this month at Doral. Since the rise of LIV Golf and the subsequent division in professional golf, PGA Tour players who compete in the Saudi-backed circuit have faced suspensions, with the current penalty being a one-year suspension.
This has led to golfing great Phil Mickelson calling for intervention from the U.S. government. In other news, Rory McIlroy and wife Erica Stoll could move to the UK after his win at the Masters – while Donald Trump found a ludicrous way of making himself look taller while meeting Ohio State’s football team at the White House earlier this week.
The 35-year-old golfer, who has made 134 starts on the PGA Tour and won the 2017 RBC Heritage, has built a significant presence on social media and YouTube despite his declining results as a professional. Alongside his brother George, Bryan has gathered over half a million followers on YouTube.
Golf Digest reported that Bryan was warned prior to participating in the LIV event. After his suspension, LIV Golf’s X social media account cheekily mocked its rival, the PGA Tour, by sharing a clip of Bryan exclaiming: “That was my moment!” after sinking a putt at the influencer event.
Golf enthusiasts enjoyed LIV Golf’s jibe, with some suggesting that Bryan should join the breakaway tour. “Sign him! Easy PR win and bring in a younger demo…” one fan suggested.

“We love the @bryanbrosgolf. please sign Wesley up! A community of more than 500K followers would love to see him play more professionally! Watching PGA tournaments on TV is nowadays boring and frustrating,” another added.
“Sign him up! Would be an amazing Wildcard,” a third fan exclaimed. Despite facing a suspension, Bryan has no second thoughts about his actions.
“No, I don’t have regrets,” Bryan revealed to Monday Q Info’s. “That video is one of the most powerful videos in YouTube golf. We are going to continue to support Grant and grow the game through YouTube.”
Bryan also took a moment to acknowledge his appreciation for the PGA Tour. “For the last eight or nine years, the opportunities have been amazing,” Bryan said. “I’m extremely grateful to the Tour for that. I don’t want this to be the end of my professional golf career.”
Regarding the potential merger between the PGA and LIV Golf, a proposal was sent to the Justice Department months ago, with President Trump eager to facilitate the agreement. Yet, despite Trump’s initial optimism, progress has stalled.
“I don’t think it’s ever felt that close,” McIlroy, crowned the 2025 Masters champion, shared with journalists in early April. “But it doesn’t feel like it’s any closer.”
