Lil’ Kim pays homage to The Notorious B.I.G.’s mother, Voletta Wallace, who passed away in February at the age of 78.
Kim shared a series of images, text messages, and videos alongside a heartfelt caption where she reflected on how their bond deepened over the last ten years. “We dedicated the last nine to ten years to enhancing our relationship which, considering our past, is truly a miracle,” the Queen Bee expressed.
“However, the final four to five years were exceptionally meaningful because we began to communicate at least monthly. Then it transitioned to weekly and even two or three times a week. You’d send me lovely pictures of yourself and updates about your garden, which had become your passion. The plants and flowers you nurtured thrived beautifully, except for those troublesome peonies sometimes.”

Kim mentioned that they ultimately began to refer to each other as mother and daughter.
“Everyone close to you called you Meema, but I called you mommy like a second mother,” she elaborated. “That’s why the 11th photo is so precious to me because that was the day you showed me your phone and said, ‘Look who I have you saved as,’ and I asked, ‘What?’ You replied, ‘Daughter.’ I beamed so brightly, it filled my heart with warmth, and you began calling me daughter all the time after that.”
Nonetheless, Kim expressed sorrow that their busy schedules prevented them from meeting in person during Ms. Wallace’s final months, stating, “This feels different because there’s no hurt or pain quite like the longing for conversation with someone who is no longer here.”
She concluded her tribute by reflecting on the comfort of knowing that Voletta will once again be with her son. “I’m smiling to myself because I can hear you saying, ‘MY GOD CHRISTOPHER!! Put that smoke down!!’ It eases the sadness a little to know you’re reunited with the other half of your heart.”
Kim finished her post with: “Rest in peace, Meema. We lost an extraordinary, strong Queen, but we gained a beautiful warrior angel.”
