In this Preshow Rituals segment, the pop artist, Lánre, reveals what he does before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:
Before every show, I have a set of rituals that help me get into the right mindset and ensure my performance is as good as it can be. One key ritual involves drinking ginger tea with honey. This not only soothes my throat but also calms my nerves, setting a peaceful tone for the evening ahead. Additionally, I start warming up my voice 2 hours before the show. This thorough preparation is crucial for a flawless performance. Moreover, to stay hydrated and keep my vocal cords in prime condition, I drink at least 8 glasses of water, starting 3 hours before my set. This regimen has become an indispensable part of my pre-show routine.
Being on tour offers unique opportunities to blend adventure with my musical journey. Whenever I’m in a new city, I make it a point to connect with nature by going on a hike. This adventurous activity isn’t just for the thrill; it significantly helps in calming my nerves and grounding me before I take the stage. It’s a wonderful way to experience the local vibe and draw inspiration from the surroundings, infusing a fresh energy into my performance each night. This ritual has become a cherished part of my touring life, adding memorable experiences to my musical career.
Lastly, I have a special tradition that involves taking the same picture of my microphone during soundcheck and sharing it online with my fans. This small gesture has become a significant way for me to connect with those who might not be able to attend the show. It’s like bringing a piece of the live experience to them, wherever they are. This ritual symbolizes my gratitude and connection to my supporters, reminding me of the shared journey we are on. Sharing these moments creates a sense of community and excitement, not just for the fans, but for me as well, as I prepare to give them my all on stage.
