If the celebration had ended and our existence was complete… could you claim you’ve witnessed Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars‘ “Die With a Smile” music video?
After being released over eight months ago, the music video has officially garnered 1 billion views on YouTube — so indeed, some individuals can say they have.
The country-inspired video — showcasing Mars in a light-colored cowboy hat and Gaga with a towering bouffant and an ever-present cigarette in her hand — debuted alongside the superstar collaboration on Aug. 16, following their live performance of the song during Mars’ venue-opening concert at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
“Die With a Smile” dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks earlier this year — first reaching the top of the chart dated Jan. 11 — and was featured on Gaga’s Mayhem, which launched at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart last month. In February, the duet won the 2025 Grammy for best pop duo/group performance.
This signifies Mars’ 10th video to enter YouTube’s Billion Views Club and Gaga’s fourth. It’s Mars’ second video to hit this achievement this year, following his “APT.” duet with ROSÉ which became the fifth fastest music video to achieve this feat in February, 105 days post-release. (Adele’s “Hello” holds the record for the fastest, reaching 1 billion views in just 87 days back in 2015.)
