Hardcore bands don’t get invited onto live network television a lot. Why not? Well, if you’ve ever seen the footage of hardcore punk band Fear appearing on Saturday Night Live in 1981 with a performance that earned them a lifetime ban from the show, you’ll understand why network television might be a little weary of bringing hardcore bands on the air with just a six second delay. (And if you haven’t seen the footage of that famous performance, you should absolutely watch it.) So that’s why I was a little surprised that Knocked Loose has apparently been booked for an outdoor concert next week on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The announcement came on Knock Loose’s Instagram with the caption:
“The heaviest band on live television. Info in our story now.”
In the Instagram story, they give a link for fans to RSVP if they want to attend the outdoor concert. Anyone who wants to be in the crowd for the show on November 26 at 5 PM in Los Angeles can sign up for tickets here. Apparently, you have to explain why you want to see this performance, which is a weird requirement. If I write “Because I think Jimmy Kimmel is the father of my baby” am I going to get turned down?
While it’s surprising that any hardcore band is performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, if any band was going to do it, it was going to be Knocked Loose. Back in May you’ll remember when we reported about Knocked Loose charting higher than Taylor Swift on Spotify’s Viral 50 US Chart. That same month, the new Knocked Loose album You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To debuted at number 23 on the Billboard200 chart. Knocked Loose is making a surprising splash in mainstream music at a time when a lot of rock music has really been pushed underground.
