Kai Trump has revealed that she has “always been a huge Duke basketball fan” after predicting the Blue Devils to emerge victorious alongside UConn in the men’s and women’s March Madness tournaments this weekend.
The Final Four in both the men’s and women’s brackets are due to take place later this week and excitement is building as the national championship games creep ever closer, where the winners of each of the four semi-finals will go head-to-head to decide who will be crowned the NCAA champions.
On the men’s side, Auburn takes on Florida and Duke will battle Houston in Saturday’s matchups, while UCLA vs. UConn and South Carolina vs. Texas are the offerings on the women’s side 24 hours before in what is set to be one of the most hotly contested weekends in college sport this year.
The women’s NCAA Tournament final will then take place on Sunday at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, before the men’s edition gets underway at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, the following night on Monday, April 7. It’s almost impossible to predict which way it will go, but President Donald Trump’s eldest grandchild believes she has it all figured out.
Taking to her Instagram story with a video on Monday, Trump believes it will be the Duke men and UConn women who will be crowned national champions over the next seven days, in which the 17-year-old also revealed her secret love for the Blue Devils and star forward Cooper Flagg.
“I have my predictions on who’s going to win March Madness for women’s and men,” Trump began in her post. “So for men’s, I think Duke’s gonna win. Cooper [Flagg] is an amazing player, and he’s honestly, he’s been killing it in March Madness, but also all the games before that. And I’ve always been a huge Duke basketball fan, so I’m like really hoping they can win.
“And then for women’s, I think UConn is going to win, because they have killed all their games leading up to March Madness. And they just keep on dominating, and they’re always winning by so many points. So I hope they win. And they have all great players and, we’ll see what happens. But you know, those are my predictions, and let’s see if they win.”
Should Duke and Flagg win the tournament, then they must first overcome the 34-4 Houston Cougars in Saturday’s semifinals. If they progress, then the Blue Devils will come up against one of Auburn (32-5) or Florida (34-4) in the final, which is made harder by the fact all three other sides left in the competition are fellow top seeds.
As for the women, UConn must get past the 34-2 UCLA Bruins in their semifinal on Friday and defeat another No 1-seeded Big Ten team in either South Carolina (34-3) or Texas (35-3) in the national championship game for Trump’s prediction to come true.
