HYBE America has teamed up with Alan Chikin Chow, the mind behind the scripted YouTube series Alan’s Universe, to create a fresh pop ensemble that will be unveiled to fans via a streaming series, as announced on Thursday (April 3).
The collaboration, named HYBE AMERICA X AU, will commence with a worldwide talent search to assemble the group, consisting of three women and three men. Selected individuals will participate in HYBE’s demanding K-pop training regimen in Los Angeles. The resulting series, which will be overseen by Chow along with HYBE America president James Shin and CEO Scooter Braun, “will document a cohort of aspiring pop idol rejections at an arts academy who choose to create their own band, merging the realms of drama, acting, and musical performance with simultaneous releases of original music and choreography,” as detailed in a press statement.
This multi-dimensional initiative will be showcased on Chow’s YouTube channel (which has over 88 million subscribers) and “across numerous platforms that span music, merchandise, live tours, and more,” aiming to “redefine the imaginary musical act transformed into a real-life global pop superstar pathway for the current generation,” as mentioned in the release.

“The dedicated global following of Alan’s Universe combined with the top-tier musical talent of HYBE AMERICA forms an unstoppable alliance,” Chow stated. “United, we aim to forge a next-generation franchise with one objective: to deliver inspiring, impactful narratives to our fans.”
“This partnership exemplifies the future of entertainment—where content and music complement each other instead of merely existing side by side,” Shin noted. “We are collaborating with Alan to create a franchise that sets a new standard for artist development in the digital era.”
Braun remarked, “Alan’s remarkable bond with global audiences distinguishes him and this partnership. Together, we are not only rethinking the process of star-making but also creating once-in-a-lifetime chances for exceptional storytelling and growth.”
