G-punk outfit (hed)p.e. have a May 30th release date slated for their forthcoming 80s covers album, “New And Improved“. In addition to putting their own stamp on various past hits, that outing also finds the band revisiting their own fan favorites in “Bartender” and “Raise Hell“, both of which are streaming below.
Their rendition of The Police‘s 1983 gold-certified hit “Every Breath You Take” is newly streaming from that compilation, which will be made available on Cleopatra Records. The band’s vocalist Jared Gomes said of his vision for this release:
“Putting a twist on these 80s songs was so magickal for me. Was nostalgic and at the same time futuristic. We have our own method and vibe for turning these songs into our own thing. I’m super stoked with how it turned out and i cant wait for people to hear my take on Willie Nelson’s track. I think this record will generate tons of smiles. Thanks everyone!”
This era is no doubt in the wheelhouse of Gomes who prior to (hed)p.e. fronted the new wave outfit The Clue. (hed)p.e. previously took on numerous tracks from the 70s for their 2023 covers outing, “70’s Hits From The Pit“.
