A remix of goth rock icons The Cure‘s track “Warsong” done by Chino Moreno of Deftones, Crosses, etc. fame is now available digitally. That reworking of the song is part of a three volume set which remixes The Cure‘s 2024 comeback album, “Songs Of A Lost World“.
Moreno and The Cure frontman Robert Smith are by no means strangers. Deftones covered The Cure‘s “If Only Tonight We Could Sleep” years ago, with Smith later remixing the “White Pony” track “Teenager“. That version appeared on the “Black Stallion” companion album that arrived in celebration of the 20th anniversary of “White Pony” back in 2020.
Smith and Moreno most recently linked up on Crosses‘ 2023 album, “Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete.“, with Smith guesting on the song ““Girls Float † Boys Cry“. Moreno‘s version of “Warsong” will appear on the third volume of “Mixes Of A Lost World“, which is headed for a June 13th release date. That set also features remixes of songs from The Cure‘s latest album done by Paul Oakenfold, 65daysofstatic, Mogwai and more.
