There appears to be no bad blood between Hannah Hidalgo and Olivia Miles after the latter opted to leave Notre Dame this offseason.
Fresh off the Fighting Irish’s 71-62 loss to TCU in March Madness, Miles sent shockwaves across the NCAA landscape by announcing her decision to remain in college for her final year of eligibility.
The projected No. 2 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft did not stop there, however, adding that she’d be entering the transfer portal rather than return to South Bend. One week later, Miles formally announced her commitment to TCU while making a guest appearance at Studio J – home of ‘NBA on TNT.’
Miles’ shocking departure sparked speculation that there may have been issues behind the scenes at Notre Dame – namely between her and Hidalgo, who bonded over both being from New Jersey. The 22-year-old swiftly put these rumors to bed on an Instagram live upon being asked if they were still on good terms.
“Yeah, we’re fine,” Miles replied. “We are perfectly fine, y’all. There is no beef, there is literally no beef. Y’all are creating it out of thin air.”
Speaking to Sportskeeda’s Mark Medina, Hidalgo applauded Miles for shutting down the rumor before it could take on a life of its own. “It was good for her that she addressed it. However she wanted to address it, it was good for her to address whatever the fan had said,” Hidalgo said.
Addressing Miles’ reasoning for transferring, Hidalgo added: “You know, it was her decision. If that’s what she thought the best decision for her was, then that’s what is best for her. I don’t know what’s best for her. Only she knows what’s best for her.

“So whatever she has going on, I wish her all the best. But I’m really focused on what me and my teammates have going on right now.”
Taking to social media last week, Miles penned a heartfelt goodbye to her Fighting Irish teammates, peers, and fans. “Words can’t express how honored I am to have met, spoken with, and played for each of you over the past four and a half years,” she wrote. “Your support means everything to me, and as I prepare to complete my graduate degree, I know that the University of Notre Dame will always be a key part of my story.
“To the ND coaches, staff, and alumni, thank you for believing in me and for your guidance during my early enrollment, injury, and rehab. Your leadership has truly inspired me.
“To my teammates, past and present, I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. I’m incredibly proud of our journey together and can’t wait to see us continue to grow as both players and women – you all have me for life.”
In closing, Miles admitted that while it’s difficult to leave the Fighting Irish, it was ultimately the best move for her career. “This decision has come after much thought about my future and goals,” she said.
