Halsey Dismisses ‘Body Cops’ Upset Over Her Push-Up Bra Photo Session: ‘Can’t Believe the Level of Anger from Everyone’
Earlier this week, in an Instagram post titled “dirtbag girl in a dirtbag world,” Halsey proudly showcased their physique in photographs where the “Safeword” vocalist donned a variety of daring outfits. The ensembles included a black sweater paired with a plaid skirt, a revealing black lacy thong and push-up bra, a crop top that read “Breed Me,” along with a glimpse of black leather studded briefs, knee-high boots, a cropped leather biker jacket, and a leather hat featured in the BDSM-themed “Safeword” video.
While they appeared at ease in their own body, the 30-year-old artist noted that some social media users were upset about the provocative pictures. “I can’t believe how furious everyone is that I wore a push-up bra,” she posted on X. “Damn I really still got it like that.” One fan asked, “wait who’s mad? The straights?,” to which Halsey replied, “the body cops.”
Trending on Billboard
Though it remained uncertain at the time of reporting who criticized Halsey for the photo shoot, fans in the comments clearly showed their support, responding with phrases like: “the body cops aren’t the boss of you!!,” “SEND THEM MY WAY,” “fortunately, those cut from the same cloth march to the beat of our own drum, gladly so!,” “they hate to see a beautiful angel looking good,” and “truly absurd how many are still afraid of the female body in 2025.”
As reported by HuffPo, when another supporter attempted to defend the singer’s fashion choices by commenting, “Like we ain’t see yo whole [t–ty] on an album cover,” Halsey shot back, “Like I didn’t do full frontal on a 100 foot tall IMAX screen,” seemingly referencing her nearly-nude appearance in the 2024 horror film MaXXXine. “[Be f–king for real.]”
Halsey left little to the imagination in last month’s “Safeword” video, which showcased them in a variety of eye-catching S&M outfits while performing the punk-influenced pop track. They recently announced the schedule for their upcoming spring/summer 2025 Halsey: For My Last Trick tour. This 32-city tour, promoted by Live Nation in support of the artist’s Columbia Records debut, 2024’s The Great Impersonator, is set to launch on May 10 at the Toyota Pavilion in Concord, CA, and will keep them touring through a show on July 6 at the Yaamava’ Theater in Highland, CA.
