A dark synthwave ode to nocturnal desires
With “Fox’s Dreams”, Glitchsource have created a synthwave track that takes me straight into a dark, atmospheric soundscape. The track from the Netherlands combines everything I love about dark pop and synthwave: epic soundscapes, a crystal-clear production and a magical female vocal that gently weaves in emotions. It’s not a song that revolutionises the genre, and it doesn’t have to – instead, it offers exactly the perfect combination of proven synthwave elements that reliably pick me up and inspire me as a listener. Solid, in other words!
I do have a small criticism of the artwork for the album “Electromaze”. Here, the cover seems a bit too generic to me and, for my taste, doesn’t quite match the depth of the song. A solid, crafted sound might have deserved artwork that visually emphasises the mystical element and the epic atmosphere of the tracks even more.
Overall, “Fox’s Dreams” convinces me with its coherent composition and the balance of clear harmony and slightly floating darkness.
