This week in dance music: Grimes called off her appearance at D.C. World Pride, mentioning “family matters,” we interviewed the CEO of Epidemic Sound regarding a new remix initiative, we chatted with Mau P at Coachella, where he shared his thoughts on the pressures of being a contemporary dance icon, stating that “I cherish all who enjoy my music so deeply, and they’ve elevated me, so I must deliver.”
In addition, Fred again.. was revealed as a headliner for Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, Rezz moved her performance to SummerStage in Central Park due to the ongoing delays at Brooklyn Mirage and Jamie xx’s iconic In Colour celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Moreover, Dutch sensation Alan Walker shared insights about an app he’s ready to launch, aimed at establishing an immersive environment for fans and cutting through the digital clutter and algorithmic barriers that frequently hinder artists from connecting with their audience. Walker and his manager Gunnar Greve expressed their aspiration for their venture to help the industry progress “in a manner that centers fans and artists. Not merely as instruments for massive corporations.”
And there’s even more: We showcased exclusive images of John Summit, Subtronics, Shygirl, and others performing at Lightning in a Bottle 2025; we spent time in the studio with Anyma discussing his Sphere residency and upcoming album The End of Genesys; and we had a conversation with producer Bianca Oblivion, named our Billboard Dance Rookie of the Month for May 2025.
Lastly, here are the top new dance tracks for the week.
-
Sammy Virji & Skepta, “Cops & Robbers”
Hotshot producer Sammy Virji collaborates with U.K. icon Skepta for “Cops & Robbers,” which seamlessly combines their distinctive styles (garage and grime, respectively) to impressive effect. Enhanced with flowing strings, the track’s light vibe is complemented by the weight of Skepta’s lyrics, where he reflects, “a little bad boy from Tottenham/ Dots, I was shottin’, playin’ cops and robbers/Now, whips I’m coppin’ and champagne poppin’ ’em/ Hands in the air like who’s got a problem?” Not us, for sure.
“Cops & Robbers” is released through Astralwerks. You can listen to it here.
-
Interplanetary Criminal “Slow Burner”
Interplanetary Criminal from Manchester keeps his solid momentum with “Slow Burner,” an ironically titled upbeat track filled with piano elements in a UK garage vibe. The producer Zach Bruce describes the piece as both a “love letter” and a “true hold your friends close at the rave type beat,” and the track indeed creates a plethora of good vibes with its warm production and lyrics saying “you should know you made my day/and I lost my woes when you came my way,” featuring vocals from Jamaican artist Original Koffee.
“Slow Burner” is available via Room Two Recordings. You can listen to it here.
-
Keinemusik, Boys Noize & Vinson, “Crazy For It”
The dynamic duo of Keinemusik and Boys Noize present the sultry, somewhat eerie yet predominantly very sexy “Crazy For It,” which draws inspiration from Kelis’ “Milkshake” through passionate vocals from New York City’s Vinson, who takes the spotlight as he insists, “if you want it, you’ve gotta go crazy for it.” In fact, one might find it hard to resist doing exactly that as the song gradually intensifies, building up to that exhilarating dancefloor moment over four expansive minutes. This track was produced between Berlin and Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studio located in Malibu, California, and it achieved a standout moment during Keinemusik’s closing set on Saturday night at Coachella 2025.
“Crazy For It” is released by Keinemusik. You can listen to it here.

Blond:ish, Moby & Kiko Franco, “Natural Blues”
Blond:ish along with Brazilian producer Kiko Franco reimagine Moby’s Y2K classic “Natural Blues” with an Afro house spin, increasing the BPM and layering percussion to craft a warm, heartfelt reinterpretation that feels fresh and far from simplistic. Moby himself has recognized it as the “song of the summer,” a delightful result after he personally reached out to Blond:ish asking her to cover one of his tracks. The piece is available in two versions, a two-minute 35-second edit and an extended five-minute version, and while both are excellent, the latter truly delivers.
“Natural Blues” is released via Defected Records. Listen to the extended edit here.
-
Aaron Hibell, “s.o.s.”
British producer Aaron Hibell unveils his first release of 2025 with “s.o.s.” Hailing from his forthcoming debut album set to drop this fall, the track features powerful rock vocals paired with a smooth, cinematic progressive backdrop. The creation took three years, and Hibell notes that the core of its essence “felt so instinctive and that’s likely why it has resonated so profoundly. However, the remainder of the track posed a significant challenge in determining how to maintain the energy throughout to set up the remarkable moment we crafted. That’s what took so long. But I’m immensely pleased with the final product, it mirrors my visions perfectly.”
“s.o.s.” is launched under Astralwerks. You can listen to it here.
