The 2023 reigning national champs do not mess around when it comes to defending their home turf — especially not on Senior night. The No. 17 Seminoles outscored No. 4 North Carolina 4-2 in a highly anticipated conference matchup Friday night in front of a packed home crowd.
In the 50th meeting between the two ACC powerhouses, the Noles earned their first regular-season win over the Tar Heels since 2015 and extended a 25-home-game unbeaten streak dating back to the 2022 season.

FSU was relentless in the attacking third, putting up 26 shots, and seven corners. The Tar Heels fought hard, saving 13 of those shots and scoring back-to-back goals to level the score at two apiece just before the break. The second half was all Florida State though.
Both second-half goals completed braces for freshman Solai Washington and standout Sophomore Jordynn Dudley whose first-half performances gave the Noles a 2-0 lead by the 22nd minute. Undeterred by UNC’s couple of Aria Nagai finishes, the two FSU forwards, recently back from international play at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, went to work honoring their seniors.

Florida State looks to keep improving its ACC record (5-2-1) on the road at Miami on Oct. 31 to close out the regular season. North Carolina will close out their season with another ACC rivalry game against Duke, but this time the Tar Heels will have the home-turf advantage.
