Fiona Apple recently shared a cover of Don Heffington‘s “Lately”.
Apple’s rendition of “Lately” appears on Tonight I’ll Go Down Swingin’, a tribute album dedicated to the late drummer and singer-songwriter Heffington.
“Lately” is originally from Heffington’s 2016 album Contemporary Abstractions in Folk Song and Dance.
Tonight I’ll Go Down Swingin’: A Tribute to Don Heffington also features songs by Watkins Family Hour, Jackson Browne, Dave Alvin, John C. Reilly, Willie Watson, and more.
The album is out now via Nine Mile Records and Clover Music Group. Proceeds from the compilation benefit the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
Heffington, a drummer and singer-songwriter best known for his role in the band Lone Justice, passed away in 2021 from leukemia at the age of 70.
