Elvis Costello and Steve Nieve have announced a 15-date tour, scheduled to take place during February-March, 2025.
The trek opens in Easton, Pennsylvania, on February 19, and takes in the Count Basie Center For The Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey, the Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, New York, and two nights at the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock, New York.
The tour will also visit Wilmington, Delaware; Beverly, Massachusetts; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Montclair, New Jersey; Ithaca and Buffalo, New York; and Ann Arbor, Michigan; playing selections from a songbook that is fifty years long and twice as deep.
The tour concludes with a three-night engagement at Park West in Chicago at which Costello and Nieve will be joined by Eleanor Whitmore on fiddle, Tony Garnier on double bass, Shaye Cohn on cornet and Sean McKeon on Uilleann pipes.
On November 1, 2024, UMe released King Of America & Other Realms – a 6-CD collection tracing Costello’s travels from his 1986 album recorded in Hollywood through his work in the American musical cities and towns of New Orleans, Louisiana; Oxford and Clarksdale, Mississippi; and Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee and brought up to the present day with a haunting minor key arrangement of “Brilliant Mistake” recorded in Cape Fear, North Carolina.
The 20-track accompanying album, The Coward Brothers, features the full-length renditions of the songs heard in the course of what the author refers to as “a wireless address.”
Tickets for the tour go on sale at ElvisCostello.com on Friday beginning at 10 am local time.
