Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is set to take the vacant New Orleans Saints head coaching job just days after winning Super Bowl LIX.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could hardly mask Moore’s importance to his team when lifting the Lombardi Trophy next to FOX personality Terry Bradshaw, aware of the rumors linking his coordinator to the new job.
“Vic [Fangio’s] been a great coordinator in this league for decades, [and] he was awesome today,” Sirianni said of his defensive coordinator. “And. Kellen? You know, let’s run this [expletive] back, Kellen. Let’s run this back!”
The Philadelphia-heavy crowd on hand at the Ceasars Superdome in New Orleans – Moore’s home stadium next season – answered with a thunderous cheer.
Moore will become the 12th coach in Saints history after taking two interviews for the role in the buildup to Super Bowl LIX. He will replace interim head coach Darren Rizzi who himself took over after the team parted ways from Dennis Allen in November.
Rizzi was a favorite for the job alongside New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. Saints running back Alvin Kamara expressed his preference when he tweeted in January how” my vote for head coach rhyme wit Fizzi.”
Moore is one the most successful college quarterbacks of this century, earning consecutive First-team All-American nods while at Boise State in 2009 and 2010.

He spent a handful of years as an NFL backup, appearing in three games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, before joining the team’s coaching staff in 2018. He was named Dallas’s offensive coordinator in 2019.
After spending four years with the Cowboys (coaching the No. 1 scoring offense in 2021), Moore jumped to the same position with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Moore was a hit with the Eagles – his offense ranked second in rushing yards. Kamara, a candidate to be cut this offseason, will hope to absorb the majority of those carries.
“He’s the worst coordinator I’ve ever had,” Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata joked ahead of the Super Bowl to prevent his offensive coordinator from leaving
.”Kellen’s been the best,” he continued. “He’s done a great job setting up plays, explaining the schemes and the whys behind certain motions, and formations. It’s a magical thing. It’s no wonder why he’s a finalist to be a head coach here.”
