Next June, Canada’s own Rhüne Mountain Festival will return for its second consecutive year. And even though it’s still a fledgling metal festival, organizers managed to net a super exciting headliner in the form of sludge/doom powerhouse Dopethrone.
Created by Ryan Hilton of Black Throne Productions and Paul Cameron of Toten Industries, with assistance from Tarantula Tapes, members of AAWKS, Z Hollow Studios, Fuzzed and Buzzed, and Bonecrusher Presents, the festival was an attempt to bring more stoner and doom metal to the greater Ontario area. Thanks to its close proximity to the U.S. border, that also means us Yanks can have a good time soaking in the downtuned, slowed down jams.
Set to take place from June 26 to June 28 in Stony Creek, Ontario, the festival is just like many other outdoors woodsy festivals around the world, where fans can choose to attend either by traveling to the gig each day or by picking up a camping pass to stay the night and revel in the natural splendor with your fellow metalheads.
According to organizers, Dopethrone will close out night two of the stoner rock/doom metal festival. As of right now, that’s all we know about this year’s performers, but considering last year’s event featured bands like Biblical, Low Orbit, Mooch, and Seum, this year’s should be pretty exciting too.
If all of this excites you, just know that you can pick up your tickets today. Prices start at $80 CAD for the weekend pass without camping access, with the biggest ticket being the RV Pass, which will let you camp out in an RV on the premises.
