Deftones will be making their second live performance of the year tonight (April 19th). The alternative metal favs will be playing the second weekend of the annual ‘Coachella‘ festival in Indio, CA. As with the first weekend, tonight’s set will be livestreamed for free via YouTube (see below.) The multi-platinum group will be appearing on the Outdoor Theatre stage from 06:45pm to 07:35pm PST (09:45pm – 10:35pm EST.)
The band’s set at last weekend’s ‘Coachella‘ found them dusting off the “Saturday Night Wrist” track “Combat” for its first live performance since 2011. Additionally, the group also ran through a partial playthrough of their cover of The Smith‘s “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want“, marking its first time being performed live.
If you’re unable to catch the show or stream, there’s still good news for fans of the alternative metal band ahead. Last weekend they announced that the majority of their tenth studio album has been tracked, with only vocals from Chino Moreno remaining.
As Moreno himself revealed in an interview with KROQ conducted backstage at the aforementioned festival, he’ll be heading back to his home studio in Oregon after tonight’s set to focus on completing his parts for the record.
Outside of that, Deftones currently have a few scattered live performances announced for the rest of the year, including:
05/28 Barcelona, SPA – Primavera Sound
08/03 Chicago, IL – Lollapalooza
08/17 San Francisco, CA – Golden Gate Park (feat. System Of A Down, The Mars Volta, Viagara Boys & VOWWS)
