Cheryl Miller has shared her insights on the relationship between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese during the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, confirming that the duo “get along well”.
The alleged rivalry between the women’s basketball stars has piqued fan curiosity since their college days. The spotlight intensified during the 2023 NCAA national championship game when Reese’s LSU triumphed over Clark’s Iowa.
In that game, Reese was seen mocking Clark by gesturing to her finger, hinting at the championship ring she was poised to claim. As both athletes transitioned into their professional journeys in the WNBA, the fascination with their rapport didn’t wane.
Following impressive inaugural seasons, Clark and Reese were united on the court for the WNBA All-Star Game. Cheryl Miller, who had the privilege of coaching them for the event, observed no friction between them.
On “The Mark Jackson Show”, Miller recounted: “Those two being on the floor shattered whatever narrative people were trying to push. Ain’t no animosity… And seeing them interact off the court and [at] shoot around and everything else, it was fun.”
Miller has reiterated her views on the matter again, this time on the “ALL THE SMOKE” podcast and she seemed quite satisfied with the dynamics she observed: “I was pleased and proud to see the narrative [about Clark and Reese] wasn’t the truth.
“And Angel and her got along so well, and watching them practice, and ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, just get it up’, and Caitlin is like, ‘Just fly, just fly, just fly.'”.
In a triumphant game that ended with a 117-109 win over the U.S. Olympic squad, Clark contributed four points and ten assists while Reese chipped in 12 points and snatched 11 boards. Prior to the game, Clark shared her thoughts about participating in the event, saying it was something special: “I think it’s cool.

“It’s obviously rare to have two rookies in the All-Star Game, so I just think enjoy that. Obviously the fans are super excited about it. I just think it’s really good for the W, and obviously she’s having an incredible year, so it’s going to be really fun.”
The standout from the Indiana Fever also opened up to TIME regarding her rapport with Reese, stating candidly: “We’re not best friends, by any means. But we’re very respectful of one another. Yes, we have had tremendous battles.”
Reese too cleared the air regarding her supposed competitive tension with Clark as she dismissed the notion of a significant rivalry amongst them. Addressing the speculation with Women’s Health, she made it clear that there was mutual respect despite athletic contention: “I love that we’re able to compete and still be cool after, regardless of the outside noise.
“When we get between the lines and we’re ready to compete, we just want to win. That’s just the group of women-we always want to win, and we’re strong and super powerful in everything that we do.”
