Brentford vs Chelsea clash predicted as the Blues’ top-four chase continues
Chelsea have the chance to strengthen their grip on the Champions League spots when they take on west London rivals Brentford in the Premier League.
Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal of the game as Chelsea beat Tottenham 1-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier this week, ensuring that Enzo Maresca’s side sat inside the Premier League top four spots. It’s looking likely that the Premier League will be given five spots in the Champions League next season, so three points for the Blues later today could be big for Chelsea in the long run.
Chelsea have failed to beat Brentford on their last two trips to the Gtech Community Stadium, though the Blues emerged victorious in the clash between the two sides earlier this season, with Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson both scoring in a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge. Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia will both be missing for Chelsea against the Bees, with the duo both dealing with muscular issues.
So, can Chelsea make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League later today? Let’s take a look.
Brentford vs Chelsea score predicted
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict that Brentford could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Shade; Wissa.
We predict that the Blues could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.
Chelsea were poor in the first half, with the Blues struggling to break down Brentford’s blunt defence while gifting the hosts opportunities thanks to some sloppy passes at the back. Just before half-time, the Bees should’ve taken the lead when Levi Colwill got caught in possession on the edge of the box, but Yoanne Wissa rushed his shot and dragged his effort wide of goal.
Cole Palmer struck the left post with a free-kick before ratting the other moments later with a header from close range, with Chelsea starting to find their feet after the restart. But, despite their improved performance, the Blues were undone extremely easily as Brentford took the lead with just over 20 minutes to go.

Noni Madueke was dispossessed on the wing, allowing Keane Lewis-Potter to win back possession and fire a ball down the line for Kevin Shade to chase. The German used his pace to speed away from Reece James and break into the box, and from a narrow-angle, the winger curled a shot into the far corner to put the hosts 1-0 ahead.
Christopher Nkunku, Jadon Sancho and Tyrique George were all introduced for the final stages of the game as Maresca desperately searched for a goal, but Brentford defended well to keep their clean sheet and hand Chelsea a tough defeat on the road.
EA FC 25 predicted final score: Brentford 1-0 Chelsea
